In which I share my evidence based top tips on how you should structure your work breaks and holidays to help stop you burning out!
Hands up if you’ve been on a holiday, you fly off, feel amazing whilst you’re away, and then you come back to work and within a few short hours of being back, you’re feeling stressed and like you’ve never been away.
Or perhaps, you’ve been away but you’ve not had the ability to truly switch off from work because you’ve been habitually checking your emails, or been contacted on your work WhatsApp chat? Or maybe you’ve been all up in your head worrying about work and then berating yourself for ruminating about it on your precious time off?
Modern working patterns and employer expectations have made it increasingly hard to take breaks and truly recover from work days outside of contracted hours. With many of us now embracing hybrid working and spending a proportion of our time WFH, our home lives are increasingly encroached on by work, and the boundaries between our home life (which should be a respite from work stress) have become blurred.
